San Juan The Summer After Maria
I served as the producer, editor and primary shooter on this piece, which was produced through a VII Foundation grant.
While much of Puerto Rico was still recovering from the destruction of Hurricane Maria, the summer after the storm physical damages to the island’s capital were mostly repaired. However, less immediately visible emotional and financial effects persisted in San Juan, putting a strain on the city’s primarily female community leaders. This piece follows Lady Lee’s experience as one of those leaders seven months out from the hurricane.
