By the summer after the storm, while much of Puerto Rico was still recovering from the destruction of Hurricane Maria, physical damages to the island’s capital were mostly repaired. However, less immediately visible emotional and financial effects persisted in San Juan, putting a strain on the city’s primarily female community leaders. This piece follows Lady Lee’s experience as one of those leaders seven months out from the hurricane.
